FAQ

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT AFTER HAVING A DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT TO HAVE A DERMAPEN?

Generally we recommend waiting two weeks after having dermal filler before having a dermapen treatment. You can also have your dermapen treatment first and simply wait two weeks before having dermal filler, which will give your skin enough time to heal.

WILL I EXPERIENCE DOWNTIME AFTER MY DERMAPEN TREATMENT?

There will be facial redness that will last no longer than 12 to 48 hours post the treatment. Redness an be covered up by applying mineral makeup. On rare occasions, you may also experience flaky skin post treatment. If you combine your dermapen treatment with a peel then this is a more intensive treatment and there will be moderate to heavy peeling generally starting after 2 days and may take up to a week to recover.*

IS THE DERMAPEN TREATMENT PAINFUL?

At Hydra Skin Bar we apply numbing cream to the area before treatment to reduce discomfort. Most people actually find the treatment quite comfortable and relaxing however areas such as the nose and forehead may be a little more sensitive. If you are having deep scarring and lines trated then a deeper treatment ie required which can sometimes be a little more uncomfortable but is generally well toerated.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS FROM MY TREATMENT?

You may begin to see positive results 4-6 weeks after your first treatment, however you will see more significant results after 4 to 6 sessions. Over the next 6 to nearly 12 months, you will continue seeing signs of improvement; the recommended post treatment care should be followed for best results. If you combine your dermapen treatment with a peel then you may even notice results after 1-2 weeks.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE MY SKIN BEFORE HAVING A DERMAPEN?

No skin preparation is required before treatment with Dermapen. However we do recommend using active skincare in combination with your treatment for the best results. If you suffer with pigmentation or have very sun damaged skin we highly recommend starting active skincare to strengthen to skin and start the process of fading pigmentation before your Dermapen treatment.

HOW DOES DERMAPEN WORK?

When moved across the skins surface, Dermapen stimulates natural collagen reproduction whilst also allowing fine channels to be created in the skin. The channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing for treatment delivery deep into the skin’s fibroblasts to feed the underlying cells found in the dermis and basal layer of your skin. This increased absorption of active ingredients into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing results.
